Finned Heat Exchanger
A finned heat exchanger is designed to increase heat transfer efficiency by adding extended surfaces (fins) to the external side of the tubes. These fins enlarge the contact area between the fluid and the heat transfer surface, improving convection and reducing thermal resistance. By combining different fin geometries, tube materials, and bonding methods, finned heat exchangers achieve high performance in compact sizes. They are widely used for air cooling, heating, condensing, and waste heat recovery in HVAC, chemical processing, metallurgy, and power systems.
 
The heat exchanger operates by channeling two fluids through separate flow paths. Heat from the hotter fluid is conducted through the tube wall and fins, then released to the colder fluid. Optimized fin spacing, tube layout, and flow design allow stable operation under varied temperature and pressure conditions.
